There were different endings between the UK and US versions for P&P (2005) movie.
For those who don't know, the UK ending, ended with Mr. Bennet laughing to himself in his study after giving his consent to Lizzy, while the US ending (the original one I think) ended with the "Mrs. Darcy" ending scene.
I prefer the US ending....I just love the "Mrs. Darcy" ending scene. It was my most favorite scene and ending of this movie.
I have the region 1 DVD, with the US ending and I like it. I think the ending with Mr. Bennet would have been to abrupt for me. Although the US ending is 'sweet' and I wasn't blown away with their conversation, I like the 'Mrs. Darcy' Mrs. Darcy' part.

We got the US ending at the cinema here - and I loved it! Some said the actors (esp MM) looked awkward / uncomfortable in that scene .. I did try to 'detect' it but couldn't
Anyway, the funny thing is, we got UK version for DVD (including the extras / bonus features etc) I did feel cheated when I saw the UK version -- got used to it after a few viewings. Came to be okay with that version. But it's so weird watching the kiss seperately - definitely doesn't have quite the same effect as watching it in the movie itself
Still trying to decide where I stand -- might vote for both
The US version did it for me. I love romantic endings. The way he said "Mrs. Darcy" 5 or 6 times in a wispering tone, was beautiful. And I think we definitly desirved to see a kiss between these 2. I'm glad I got the US version!

By the second kiss, Darcy was devastatingly sexy -- and by fourth kiss, my heart stopped -- you don't wanna know what happened at the fifth kiss
I'm going with the US ending, guys
LOL, glad that "Mrs. Darcy" scene and Mr. Darcy 5x kisses to Lizzie's face convinced you that the U.S. Ending was so much better. :p ;D I think for it was anyway, when I saw the other version before I owned my own U.S. version, I was like it's not an ending for me till I see Darcy & Lizzie kissed in the end 'cause as much as the 1995 mini-series didn't make me addicted as much as I did with this movie, at least that mini-series has that nice happy ending "wedding scene" ....wish this movie had one too before the "Mrs. Darcy" scene in Pemberley. Oh, well, since there wasn't....I'm very satisfied with the "Mrs. Darcy" ending scene. I thought it was perfect to end the movie.

Definitely the US ending! I waited for a kiss for 2 hours, there was no way I was going to let that slip by. Then he leans down, ready to kiss her and he does it more than once! And his voice... woohoo I love how deep it is and how it sounds and... yep.

I personally prefer the UK ending. The US one was fantastic though! but I felt that it was just too much for the film - but that's just me!
LOL - we used to have a rather loooooonnnggg thread on IMDb (when the movie first came about) on whether "Geography affects your fave ending" (something like that ) ... It really went both ways, I tell ya. Half of the posters love, love, love the kiss - the other half ... well, they loved Mr Bennet more!
I myself sometimes feel that the kiss was a bit over the top -- but it also gives me goosebumps every time I watch it (not to mention the tendency to grin and grin and grin myself silly! )

And for my 700th post .. here's something special about the kiss. EW lists it as one of the fine finales in movies (together with "Saw", Stanley Kubrick's "The Killing", "The Godfather Part 2" and Iranian movie "A Taste of Cherry" among others)
biou: Hi I come way too late for this forum . just saw this 2005 version in 2013 and totally love love it. Matthew Mcfaddden and Keira Knightley are the best Darcy & Elizabeth. This is my first time blogging...
